We now have an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist APP working the the practice three days a week. This specialist is a “First Contact” clinician and provides advanced level assessment, clinical diagnosis and management of patients presenting with MSK symptoms. This is a very quick route to diagnosis, advice and support. They are able to request x-rays where required and refer to other services. Fit notes and medication can also be arranged during your appointment. Please ask at reception for an appointment with David the APP Physio.

If you are unable to download the form contact the physio reception at Clydebank Health Centre on 0141-531-6324 and they will post one out. Please take time to give as much clear detail in the form about your main condition. The usual waiting list is currently 12 weeks (2 weeks for a new walking aid) but more urgent cases are picked up from the details on the form and seen sooner. Information on where you are in the queue can be gained at the central admin office at 0141 347 8909.

Vitality Classes at the new Leisure Centre Clydebank
Vitality is a programme of exercise classes that will support you to exercise at a level suitable to your ability. Classes are designed to help build and maintain strength, co ordination, endurance and flexibility. Vitality classes are suitable for individuals with medical conditions including: stroke, heart conditions, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis and are designed to support individuals to make daily life and activities more manageable.
Classes are available in four levels:
Level 1 : Strength and balance ( chair based, attend with or without mobility aids)
Level 2 : Strength and Balance Circuit (mixed ability- attend with or without mobility aids)
Level 3 : Step in Circuit (independent mobility required)
Level 4 : Step Up Circuit (independent mobility required)
All Vitality classes are led by highly trained and experienced instructors, and are designed to be adapted to suit any participant. LIVE ACTIVE Scheme
If you want to become more active but feel you could do with support or advice, or have been advised to take more exercise but don’t know where to start, contact your General Practice Nurse or physiotherapist for a referral.

Hearing aid repairs are available at all Audiology hospital sites. Repairs are carried out by appointment only. They can be arranged by telephone/email or by visiting the Audiology reception. A postal service is available for repairs (please post your hearing aid & yellow battery book to your local Audiology Service using the address given, you are required to pay postage to the hospital but not for the return).
Please ensure your hearing aid is correctly addressed and packaged for transit through the Royal Mail system, and please be aware that delivery times mean you are without your hearing aid whilst it is in transit to/from us.
The RNID also offer drop in clinics in various locations across Glasgow for NHS hearing aid tube replacement, cleaning and general maintenance. Batteries are provided free of charge to NHS GG&C hearing aid patients. Batteries can be obtained from your local Audiology Service or from some Health Centres.

Please note that they now say that the do not do any “personal footcare” which means they no longer clip nails and tend to hard skin problems. However there is also an organisation called Footcare that has trained volunteers staffing a foot clinic to help with toenail trimming and hard skin removal and basic footcare. If you are under 16 weeks pregnant and have concerns about the pregnancy please call the EPAS line (Early Pregnancy Assessment Service) at the Maternity hospital at the Queen Elizabeth University hospital direct on 0141 201 2331. You may be asked to leave a message if the line is busy but the midwife will call back and offer a consultation, examination and scans if needed.

If you need help urgently such as heavy bleeding or severe pain then contact your nearest A&E Department, first calling NHS24 on 111.

Cancer doesn’t just affect your physical well being it can affect every aspect of your life, from your emotions to your finances. However often people don’t know where to turn for support. That’s why West Dunbartonshire Council and Macmillan Cancer Support have launched the Improving Cancer Journey Service. Our Service is here to help people affected by cancer get the support they need, whether its financial, emotional, medical or practical.
Improving the cancer journey is a service available to all cancer patients within the West Dunbartonshire Council area.
How can we help?
Once an individual gets in touch we will arrange for them to meet with a dedicated Macmillan ICJ Officer who will help them complete a Needs Assessment, a tool used to make sure the individual’s needs and concerns are identified. The Macmillan ICJ Officer will work with the individual to agree the best kind of support they and their family want, putting in place a personalised care plan.
