We are delighted to report that the West Dunbartonshire Council Planning Committee today approved the plans for a new Health and Care Centre in Clydebank. This represents a £19m investment to replace the existing health centre with a new integrated centre at Queens Quay. This will support the provision of high quality services and help improve the health and lives of the people of Clydebank. The new Health and Care Centre is scheduled to open in 2020. A series of communication will follow over the coming months providing further information.

In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a wide range of special clinics and healthcare services:

Long Term Conditions (Chronic Diseases)

The practice nurses, in conjunction with the healthcare assistant and GP’s, offer regular check-ups throughout the week for a wide range of ailments including:elderley_BP_check

  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • COPD
  • Diabetes
  • Epilepsy
  • Hypertension
  • Heart Failure
  • Ischaemic Heart Disease (IHD)
  • Mental Health Problems
  • Stroke

These check-ups are by invitation or appointment.

Other Services

Travel Advice

Patients requiring vaccinations for travel should allow a minimum 6 weeks prior to travel to arrange this. Please collect a travel form to complete from reception and book your initial telephone consultation with the practice nurses.

Family Planning

The practice nurses offer contraceptive pill check-ups, contraceptive injections and the morning after pill. Contraceptive coils and implants are also available in house. Please discuss your requirements with the reception team so they can arrange for you to have the correct appointment.

Health Promotion

The practice nurses offer a wide range of other health promotion services including smear tests, smoking cessation advice, weight reduction/healthy eating advice, blood pressure and cholesterol checks and Well Person Checks.

Annual Flu Campaign

Flu injection days are held in early October. Ask at reception in late summer for more details and if you are in a category entitled to free NHS flu vaccine.

Child Health

The health visitors, along with a GP, offer a full immunisation service and child health surveillance. A “drop-in clinic” is also held for advice and weighing etc.
